Clare Whitaker is an experienced physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, Pilates-based rehabilitation and recovery after surgery. She has a particular interest in endurance athletes and helping patients manage pain, improve movement and return to their daily activities.
With experience in both NHS and private practice, Clare combines her clinical knowledge with an interest in pain neuroscience, exercise therapy and injury prevention. She takes an individualised approach, tailoring treatment to each patient’s condition, lifestyle and recovery needs.
Clare treats musculoskeletal conditions affecting the neck, back, hips, knees and feet, as well as gait-related difficulties. She helps patients address sports injuries, improve physical function and gradually return to their usual activities.
As a certified APPI Pilates instructor, Clare has many years of experience teaching mat-based Pilates to individuals and small groups. She has a particular interest in complex lower back pain, using tailored exercises to improve strength, flexibility and physical control.
A keen runner and triathlete herself, Clare understands the physical demands of endurance sports. She has experience working with marathon runners, trail runners and participants in multi-day events, including the Marathon des Sables and Tough Mudder, helping them prepare for and manage the demands of their chosen activities.
Clare provides rehabilitation following surgery, helping patients regain function and progress through the stages of recovery. Where appropriate, she liaises with surgical consultants to ensure treatment aligns with recommended rehabilitation protocols.
