About Peter Clerkin

Peter Clerkin is a dedicated Pilates Instructor and Rehabilitation Trainer with a strong background in sport, exercise science, and functional movement training. He holds an Honours Degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Edinburgh Napier University, alongside professional certifications including REPs Level 3, Level 3 Pilates Matwork Teacher (Active IQ), and GP Referral Qualification from the Wright Foundation.

Peter began his career in the fitness industry after university, combining his knowledge of human movement, biomechanics, and performance to help clients achieve their health and rehabilitation goals. His passion for Pilates developed as he recognised its effectiveness in improving movement efficiency, posture, and strength. He quickly established a loyal client base as a fitness instructor and personal trainer, while also coaching football and basketball teams, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to holistic physical development.

After several years of experience in the UK, Peter expanded his career internationally, relocating to Seattle, USA, where he taught a range of classes including Pilates, Spin, TRX, Kettlebell, and High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). This diverse teaching background allowed him to refine a dynamic, evidence-based approach that combines Pilates principles with strength and endurance conditioning.

An accomplished endurance athlete, Peter has completed the 2012 Belfast Marathon along with multiple triathlons, half-marathons, and 10k races. His own athletic experience informs his training philosophy, emphasising core control, functional strength, and injury prevention for both everyday clients and performance-driven athletes.

Peter’s teaching style is characterised by energy, enthusiasm, and precision. He tailors each session to the individual, blending Pilates, functional strength, and rehabilitative exercise to enhance physical performance and promote long-term wellbeing. His ability to connect clinical insight with athletic training makes him an invaluable asset to clients seeking to recover from injury, build strength, or improve their overall fitness.
