Postnatal care for mothers
A Mummy MOT health check with London City Physiotherapy is a specialist postnatal care assessment recommended for all women following delivery – whether 6 weeks or many years after giving birth.
Already a standard element of every new mother’s post-natal rehabilitation in many other countries in Europe, trained specialists can assess the strength and function of the tummy and pelvic floor muscles to help prevent long-term childbirth-related complaints.
Healthcare after delivery
After having a baby, half of all women have a subsequent weakness in either their tummy or pelvic floor area – and over a third suffer from chronic pelvic pain.
These problems create musculoskeletal instability, reduce core strength and can be debilitating. Many people suffer greatly from altered transfer load (which impairs healthy movement), back pain, pelvic pain, bladder and bowel weakness.
I had a Women’s Health Assessment with Diana after having my first baby. Really helpful explanations and practical advice. Recommended.
Health after pregnancy
The Mummy MOT health check is designed to help you avoid the distressing and sometimes embarrassing problems that can follow childbirth.
A specialist physiotherapist assesses the tummy gap and pelvic floor, enabling the creation of a bespoke postnatal recovery programme plan devised especially for you, your lifestyle, and your fitness goals.
Your plan includes specific and safe postnatal exercises designed specially to suit your body and help you regain or maintain stability and optimum function.
Who delivers the pregnancy postpartum care?
Our specialist Mummy MOT Practitioner, Diana Goodwin, is a Chartered Physiotherapist with 17 years of experience and specialist training in antenatal and post-natal rehabilitation and conditioning. Diana is bi-lingual and speaks fluent Spanish. She is also a proud and happy Mother.
All assessments are conducted in pristine and secluded rooms designed for clinical usage rather than traditional Physiotherapy suites. Private changing facilities, curtains, comfortable assessment couches, and specialist equipment make the assessment experience as comfortable as possible.
